How do you manage 60+ people around the world who have volunteered to help make your film happen?! - Of course, email is all you have to really communicate internationally on a regular basis, and keep time zone issues in mind. Additionally, SKYPE is GREAT for teleconferencing with anyone at any time. We have a weekly staff meeting on Skype to cover any issues that people may have. - Make a spreadsheet to track everyone and everything. How you do this is up to you, but I have the following setup: img33.imageshack.us/i/spreadsheetsample.jpg/Going down the list (which I can't show in the picture) I have the teams broken up by department: Compositors, Roto, Spaceship Animators, Character Animators, Particle FX, and Misc. - Create a website and use the website space as an FTP to transfer files around the world. DON'T USE EMAIL FOR THIS!!! You don't have to promote the site. You don't even have to put anything up at first. Just use the XX Gigs of space so that your people around the world can upload and download assignments and updates. Stay on top of it too, because you'll run out of space real fast if you don't maintain and manage the FTP. Don't let old stuff hang out there very long. That's about all I can think of right now. If anything else comes to mind, I'll add it here.
